UNIn 2020, migrants from nearly every country resided in the United States. Countries with at least 901,000 migrant residents include Mexico, El Salvador, Cuba, Dominican Republic, China, South Korea, India, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Data also were collected for the U.S. Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and it is in this highest category. Between 676,000 and 901,000 migrant residents came from Canada, Guatemala, Jamaica, Colombia, and the United Kingdom. Between 452,000 and 676,000 migrant residents came from Honduras, Haiti, Germany, and Poland. Between 227,000 and 452,000 migrant residents came from Nicaragua, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Portugal, Italy, Ukraine, Russia, Japan, Thailand, Pakistan, Iran, and Nigeria. Migrant residents came from the remaining countries of the world, with fewer than 227,000 migrants coming from each of these countries.
