Areas shaded in peach represent major karst regions worldwide. In North America, significant karst areas are found in northern and central Canada and the eastern and southwestern United States. In Central America, karst landscapes are prevalent, with notable areas in eastern Brazil. Europe features many karst regions, extending across North Africa from Algeria to Egypt and reaching south to Nigeria in the west and South Sudan in the east. Southern Africa also has prominent karst areas. In Southwest Asia, karst regions are widespread, as well as in Siberia and south-central China. New Guinea and eastern and southern Australia are also marked by significant karst landscapes.
