Shootings in public places in the United States resulting in four or more victims killed by the attacker. The dataset excludes shootings stemming from more conventionally motivated crimes such as armed robbery or gang violence.

Mass shootings in the U.S. with locations marked with red dots. High concentrations are seen in California, Texas, Florida, and the Midwest, around Chicago. Fewer incidents are noted in the central (Nebraska) and northern mountains (Montana and Wyoming).
