A map illustrates water use per capita across the United States, categorized by gallons per year per person.

Areas shaded in dark blue represent regions with the highest water usage, exceeding 5,000,000 gallons per year per person, predominantly found in parts of Alaska (Denali-Borough, Valdez-Cordova Census Area), Malheur, Harney, Phillips, Valley, Blaine, Carbon, Albany, Hudspeth, Culberson, and Millard. Regions with significant water usage, ranging from 500,000 to 5,000,000 gallons, are shown in medium blue and are primarily located in the western United States, including states like California, Nevada, and Arizona; Nye, Elko, Lincoln, Idaho, Chaves, Custor, Okanogon, Lassen, and Imperial. Counties with moderate water use, between 50,000 to 500,000 gallons, are depicted in lighter blue and are scattered throughout the Midwest and Eastern states: North-Slope Borough, Southeast Fairbank, Lake and Peninsula Borough, Northwest Arctic Borough, Mohave, San-Bernardino, St. Louis, Greene, and Elbert. The lightest blue areas, indicating less than 50,000 gallons per year per person, are found in various regions: Alaska (Yukon-Koyukuk Census, Nome Census, Dillingham Census), King, Cass, Polk, Piscataquis, Santa Rose, Marion, Perry, and Broome. Some areas are marked with a grey pattern, indicating no data available for those regions.
