A map illustrates the distribution of days with heavy fog across North America using a color-coded scheme.

Areas with 80 days or more of heavy fog are shaded in dark blue, prominently seen in some parts of northern Canada and the western coast of the United States. Regions with 60 days of heavy fog are shaded in purple, visible in some areas of northern Alaska and northeastern Canada, including regions of Victoria Islands, Parry Islands, and Naujaat. Areas experiencing 40 days of heavy fog are shaded in pink, found in parts of extreme eastern Canada, including Ellesmere, the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, Nunavut, and some coastal regions of the northern United States. Regions with 20 days of heavy fog are shaded in orange, noticeable in parts of the western and northeastern United States, and most of the eastern coast, as well as in northern Canada. Areas with 10 days of heavy fog are shaded in yellow, observed in many parts of the United States and Canada including South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Dallas, Montana, New York, Calgary, Newfoundland and Labrador, Manitoba, Yellowknife, Northern Territories, Yukon, Fairbanks, Alaska, Nome, Whitehorse, Juneau, New Mexico.
